Overview
The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds funds PhD fellowships in basic biomedical research for outstanding junior scientists from anywhere in the world, for 2 to 3.5 years at a leading host laboratory. Applications are reviewed on a rolling three-times-a-year cycle with cut-off dates of 1 February, 1 June and 1 October; the application portal opens about one month before each deadline. The next deadline is 1 October 2026.
Eligibility
Outstanding junior scientists worldwide beginning or recently started (within 6 months) a PhD project in basic biomedical research at an internationally leading laboratory; university entrance qualification must not be more than 96 months before the deadline; highly competitive, fewer than 10% of applicants are awarded.
