Overview
International PhD programme in the biology of ageing run by the University of Cologne with the Max Planck Institutes for Biology of Ageing and Metabolism Research and the CECAD cluster. Applications run 11 August-3 November 2026; online interviews take place in December 2026, a recruitment week in Cologne in February 2027, and PhDs start July-October 2027.
Eligibility
Master's degree or equivalent in cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, bioengineering, pharmacology, neuroscience, medical biology, translational medicine or related field (medical graduates with research experience may apply); English at C1 level; research proposal, three host-lab choices and two references.
Nationality: Open to all nationalities
Funding & Benefits
Employment contract of at least 3 years with social benefits at TV-L 13 (65%), approx. EUR 2,060 net per month in the first year, or an equivalent Max Planck PhD support contract; PI continues funding if the project runs longer.
