Overview

NIH's Summer Internship Program places students in full-time research positions within NIH's Intramural Research Program, working directly with Principal Investigators on basic, translational or clinical research across biomedical, behavioral and social sciences.

Eligibility

U.S. citizen or permanent resident; at least 18 by 30 September 2027 (limited exceptions for 17-year-olds near NIH campuses); enrolled at least half-time in an accredited high school, college, or graduate/professional programme.

Funding & Benefits

Stipends adjusted annually by educational level; free parking and, at some campuses, subsidized transportation. Housing is not provided.
