Overview
A 4–6 month placement in an OIST lab of the applicant's choice, suitable for students exploring research or considering OIST's PhD programme. The Spring 2027 round covers internships between 1 April and 30 September 2027; applications close 15 October 2026 (23:59 JST), with results in mid-December 2026.
Eligibility
Students in the last two years of a bachelor's degree or any year of a master's, or holders of a bachelor's/master's degree, from universities in Japan or overseas; current students need home-institution approval; PhD students are not eligible.
Nationality: Open to all nationalities
Funding & Benefits
Allowance of JPY 2,400 per working day, one round-trip airfare, furnished on- or off-campus accommodation, shuttle bus pass and visa support. Application fee JPY 5,000.
