TWAS Visiting Expert Programme – 2026 Call

Overview

TWAS funds travel for renowned scientists to spend 2-4 weeks at a university or research institute in a developing country, giving lectures, training staff and students and starting joint research. Bangladeshi departments (e.g. GEB departments) can use it to bring in a biotechnology expert. Applications close 23 November 2026 via the TWAS online portal.

Eligibility

Application is made by a host institution in a developing country (priority to Least Developed Countries such as Bangladesh) to invite an internationally recognised scientist with a PhD in the natural sciences (maths and physics excluded) for a visit of at least two weeks (typically 2-4 weeks). One TWAS/OWSD programme per applicant per year.

Nationality: Host institutions in developing countries, especially LDCs incl. Bangladesh

Funding & Benefits

TWAS pays the visiting expert's round-trip economy airfare; the host institution in the developing country covers all local costs (accommodation, meals, local travel).
