Overview

Interdisciplinary PhD in genome science and technology at UBC, bridging genomics, bioinformatics and molecular biology. PhD students are guaranteed minimum funding for four years. International applications for September 2027 opened 1 August 2026 and close 1 December 2026 (references by 15 December); a May 2027 intake closes 31 October 2026.

Eligibility

Life sciences degree with significant quantitative experience, or a computer science/maths/engineering/physics degree with life-science experience; supervisor commitment required before applying; three references; TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo.

Nationality: Open to all nationalities

Funding & Benefits

All full-time UBC PhD students receive at least CAD 40,000/year in each of the first four years (as of September 2026), via TA/RA/awards; first-year international tuition about CAD 10,082.
