Overview

PIBS is Michigan Medicine's single-application entry into more than a dozen biomedical PhD programmes. The Fall 2027 application opened in early September 2026 and closes 1 December 2026 at 11:59 pm EST.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree; international admission is very limited (about 5% or fewer). Cancer Biology, Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, MCDB and Molecular & Cellular Pathology do not accept international students; Microbiology & Immunology only if already in the US on F-1.

Nationality: International applicants accepted only for some PIBS programmes

Funding & Benefits

Annual stipend USD 38,970 plus tuition and free health/dental coverage for students in good standing throughout the PhD; international students receive the same support (taxes may be withheld).
