Wellington Doctoral Scholarship – November 2026 Round

Overview

Victoria University of Wellington's main doctoral scholarship funds full-time PhD study in any discipline, including biological, biomedical and environmental sciences. Applications close three times a year (1 March, 1 July and 1 November at 4:30 pm NZ time); the next round closes 1 November 2026. International awardees may defer their start by up to nine months.

Eligibility

Domestic and international applicants with a bachelor's (honours) or master's degree of first-class honours standing, enrolling full-time in their first doctoral qualification. About 110 awards per year across all disciplines.

Nationality: Open to international applicants of all nationalities

Funding & Benefits

NZ$32,000 annual stipend plus tuition fees (at domestic rate) for up to three years of doctoral study.
